Helen Haines will host a series of free online grants workshops for Indi community organisations, not-for-profit groups and businesses on August 18 and 22 and September 8 and 15.

The Independent Federal Member for Indi has also set up an ‘Indi Funding Finder’ website to provide North East communities with a comprehensive, on-line portal offering free access to the widest range of current grants.

“I’ve additionally worked with an expert grant adviser with more than 30 years’ experience in grant-seeking, grant-making and helping others find grants to create a set of handy ‘how-to’ guides and videos available on my website,” Dr Haines said.

“I want to see our communities prosper.

“Grants can strengthen our communities, create opportunities for the next generation and make this a better and more beautiful place to live. Let’s do all we can to bring more funding and opportunity to our region.

“So, if you’ve got a fantastic idea for a project you want to get off the ground, or your community group needs a little extra funding to bring that idea to life, then these workshops and resources should certainly help.”

The 2.5-hour workshops will cover:

  • Where to find grants
  • How to prepare for grant success
  • What a grant application looks like
  • How grant writers decide which projects get funded
  • How to acquit your grant project successfully

People can register by going to helenhaines.org/resources/grants and follow the links for each of the four workshops:

Workshop # 1: Tuesday, August 18, 2:00 – 4:30pm

Workshop # 2: Saturday, August 22, 10:00am – 12:30pm

Workshop # 3: Tuesday, September 8. 10:00am – 12:30pm

Workshop # 4, Tuesday, September 15, 6:00 – 8:30pm

“The workshops are designed for individuals, businesses and community organisations who want to upskill and don’t want to waste their time writing grant applications that go nowhere,” Dr Haines said.

“The same content will be covered in each session, so you can pick a time that works best for you.  Everyone is welcome to attend.”

Dr Haines said easy-to-read ‘How-to’ guides step applicants through the trickiest parts of applying for grants and contain lots of useful information.

There’s also a series of complementary short videos that guide applicants through the grant-seeking process.

“In these videos you hear from grant-winning Indi locals about their secrets for success, and how you can secure that funding, too,” Dr Haines said.
