Parliament Volunteer Program – Expression of Interest

The Parliament Volunteer Program offers an immersive experience where you will gain firsthand insight into the workings of our political system.

No experience or prior knowledge about the parliament is needed to participate in this program. The only requirements are an enthusiastic learning attitude and a passion to contribute to positive change for your communities. My team will support you with any skills you need to make your time in Canberra meaningful and fun.

Your role will involve attending meetings and events, engaging in research and writing, observing Question Time in action, meeting stakeholders from across the nation and touring Parliament House and the Parliamentary Library.

The program runs for a full sitting week (generally Monday – Thursday).  Participants are required to cover their own costs of participation; however homestay options are available. The program is open to individuals aged 18 years and older that live or work in Indi or are from Indi but have moved away for further study.

Volunteers between the ages of 18 –30 may apply for a bursary to assist with travel expenses. This is allocated on a first-come, first-served basis until the funds are exhausted.

If you have any questions about the volunteer program, please email helen.haines.mp@aph.gov.au
