Indi Parliament Volunteer Program Application

The Indi Parliament Volunteer Program offers firsthand insight into the workings of our Australian political system. As part of my team, you will contribute to the democratic process and witness the details of parliamentary proceedings.

Parliament volunteers actively assist me in representing Indi. The role may involve attending events, meeting stakeholders, engaging in research and writing. You will have the opportunity to observe Question Time in action, learn about the work of the Parliamentary library and explore the building that is the home of our democracy, from behind the scenes.

No prior experience or knowledge about the parliament is needed to participate in this program. The only requirements are an enthusiastic attitude to learning and a passion to contribute to positive change for your community. My team will support you with any access requirements as well as any skills you need to make your time at Parliament House meaningful and fun.

The program is open to individuals aged 18 years and older that live, work or study in Indi (or are from Indi but have moved away for further study).  The program runs for the duration of parliamentary sitting weeks (generally Monday – Thursday). Participants are required to cover their own costs of participation; homestay options are available. Participants between the ages of 18 and 30 may apply for a bursary to assist with travel expenses.

Please note that using a Chrome browser is advised to submit the below form. If this is not possible, please email your application, answering the questions listed below to helen.haines.mp@aph.gov.au.
