You may be eligible for:

Australian Government Disaster Recovery Payment of $1000 per adult and $400 per child for immediate personal needs as a result of fire.

Call 180 22 66.

Personal hardship assistance of $560 per adult and $280 per child for immediate needs like food, shelter, clothing and personal items, up to $1960 per household. Re-establishment assistance of up to $42,250 available if your home has been affected by fire.

Check your eligibility criteria at, speak with Victorian Department of Health and Human Services officers at your nearest community relief centre, or attend DHHS Wodonga and Wangaratta offices.

If you have lost your home to bushfire you may be eligible for a Red Cross emergency grant of $2000. Visit and register your contact details. Red Cross will follow up after January 6 to verify a few pieces of information, including proof of residence. Once the checks are done, you will receive payment by EFT.

Grants are available to people whose primary place of residence has been destroyed or rendered uninhabitable because of a bushfire since July 1, 2019.

If you leave or evacuate your home

It’s essential that you register with Red Cross if you’re from a bushfire zone and you’ve left your home. You can do this at or call 1800 727 077.

Livestock feed and care

If you need or can provide fodder call 1300 882 833.

For livestock help and support call 1800 226 226 and follow the ‘livestock’ prompt.

Food donations

Foodshare Albury Wodonga is receiving donations of non-perishable foods. You can deliver these to 55 Moorefield Park Drive West Wodonga between 9am and 5pm Mon-Fri. T 02 6055 6979 or 0418 962 137.
