Protect Our Winters Australia and Bright Brewery have teamed up to deliver a brand-new mini community sustainability festival, ‘POWFest: Mountains, Music, Momentum’ on Sunday 2 March 2025 from 12-5pm at the Bright Brewery Paddock and Brewhouse.
Set to be a vibrant celebration of sustainability, adventure and community, POWFest will offer inspiration and education on climate action aimed at protecting the unique alpine environment.
With live music, market stalls, ‘in conversation’ workshops and panel discussions the event will bring together a range of voices including ecologists, youth leaders, community groups, politicians and industry leaders.
A key highlight will be a panel discussion including Independent Federal Member for Indi Helen Haines to join the conversation on climate solutions and the future of Australia’s alpine regions.
POWFest is more than a festival – it’s a movement towards a sustainable future.
Quotes attributable to Dr Helen Haines MP:
“As well as the breathtaking natural beauty and important ecological and cultural value, our alpine areas are an economic powerhouse, contributing $1.5 billion annually to Victoria’s gross state product.
“1.56 million visitors enjoy our alpine regions every year and the industry supports 14,000 jobs, but climate change is presenting significant economic and environmental challenges.
“Protect Our Winters and Bright Brewery are working hard to bring awareness and action to save our fragile alpine system and I’m looking forward to participating in the panel discussion at POWFest.”
Quotes attributable to Sam Beaver (Director and policy lead at Protect Our Winters Australia):
“The Australian Alps is widely acknowledged as one of Australia’s unique and vibrant environmental and community landscapes. We also know that its snow-based tourism, flora and fauna and alpine communities are under threat from climate change.”
“To have the best impact we can in fighting climate change, we need to build a broad coalition of everyday people ready to be the voices for our mountains. To protect our mountains. This is what POWFest is about. POWFest is about bringing people together.”
